Laci tells it like it is on behalf of us both! Pansexual is always the term I use in my head to describe myself, because it’s the most accurate. I say ‘bisexual’ because the general public knows what that means, it comes pretty close and I’m not always in the mood for a 20-minute discussion on why I’m attracted to cookware. Honestly, just plain ol’ sexual would do the trick. Pansexual works for me because if you asked me what I’m attracted to, I’d be far more likely to say
- Comic book artists
- Androgy
- Bibliophiles
- Seductive brainy-types who like sexy mind games
- Asymmetrical haircuts
- People I’m not supposed to be attracted to because they’re married or gay/straight (my greatest weakness!)
…Than just ‘both boys and girls.’ I’ve never been super concerned about labels, because I’m a Kate long before I’m a whatever-sexual. Still, Laci is awesome for putting herself out there and educating the world!

Just like the video says, don’t get too caught up in labels, a label is just a word you use to explain to others how you feel. I generally feel like pansexual fits me really well but I’ve used the word bisexual for MOST of my life. I think of labels as fun thought experiments, not a box anyone has to fit in.
